A dual citizen of Ireland and of the United States and a global healthcare leader and board-certified internist, David trained at Mayo Clinic and completed 5 academic degrees with honors in economics, public health, epidemiology, medicine, and business at UNC, where he was a Morehead Scholar. David was Associate Professor at Mayo, Associate Professor with tenure at UVA, and Professor of Epidemiology and Medicine with tenure at Emory University. He joined Baylor Health Care System in 1999 as its first Chief Quality Officer (CQO) and became in 2013 CQO of Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH),Texas’s largest healthcare system. A former President of the International Society for Quality in Health Care, he served on the Board of Managers of The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano and on the BSWH-Kessler/Select board. He is currently a board member of several other companies, including Mentice AB, the world’s leading endovascular simulation company, which is a public company headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden (NASDAQ Nordic MNTC.ST) and Pascal Metrics, the leading electronic health record data mining and health care harm reduction company.
